Sugar Cookie Show-and-Tell: Camping with the Cub Scouts

A local cub scout pack holds a fun baking competition every year.  This years theme was "Camping", so we came up with this fun collection. Tents, campfires, pine trees, compasses and marshmallows on a stick...the perfect elements for some outdoor fun!

Sugar Cookie Show-and-Tell: Dinosaurs say RAWR

If you have small kids, chances are you have dozens of plastic dinosaurs laying around. Both of my kids love dinos - I think its the bright colors and fun shapes.  They make great cookies for the same reason - bright colors and lots of cool shapes and sizes.  These dino cookies are were done for a little boys 4th Birthday Party, he was having a Dino Dig at a local Nature Center and these made the perfect favor.  We added some molton lava cakes and dino eggs and you could almost hear them RAWR!

Sugar Cookie Show-and-Tell: Lego my Eggo

The only time we don't appreciate Legos is when we step on them at 2am when trying to let the dog out.  Otherwise, they are a toy that has been a constant joy for our kids since they were babes using those big Duplos to build their first castle.  We love when we can create something special for a child on their birthday - just like this lucky-Lego-loving little boy who got to ring in #8 with these hand-cut cupcake toppers and favors.

Sugar Cookie Show-and-Tell: Xbox Controller

Gamers love cookies too!  Love how these hand-cut xbox gaming remotes turned out.  Im usually a cookie purist and don't use anything other than icing on my cookies - but these were screaming to use the leftover dots from our Halloween candy stash !

Sugar Cookie Show-and-Tell: Hipster Lumberjack

We have a few rules about birthday celebrations:  1. Kid Choice on location/theme 2. Mom choice on cookies 3. No crying.  We've pretty much stuck to these 3 rules with great success.  So for D's normally difficult to plan winter celebration one year, he make a great choice to do a weekend at a ski resort with just a few close family members/friends.  The result was a great weekend of snow tubing for the kids, and mom got free reign on theme.  I had been wanting to do some lumberjack treats and cookies for a while, and the bonus was that I successfully made all adults and kids wear cute beards.
