I couldn't think of a catchy hockey reference for the title because I know nothing about hockey. My Canadian husband just cringed. But I was thrilled to be referred to a local mom who was looking for last minute cookie favors for her team. Im forever grateful for this wonderful Vienna community that continues to support this little local baking business. I matched the team logo, and just like that my knowledge of hockey grew exponentially. :)

Sugar Cookie Show-and-Tell: Gamer Blamer
When its your own kid requesting a specific type of treat for their birthday, the results aren't always pretty, but at least you get a big hug from the birthday boy. Deuce turned 9. NINE! I can't quite wrap my head around that. I still think of him as the blues clues obsessed little cutie that sang with wild abandon anytime he saw a paw print. He likes video games now (sigh), so we celebrated with a game truck with all of his buddies. He designed this cake and cookie combo, and while its not the best looking cake around, it will be one of my favorites. All the kids took home a game remote cookie, and I'm are parents are still cursing me for their black teeth! Happy Birthday Buddy.

So happy when clients are open to suggestion - I seem to be recommending minis more often these days, especially for little people celebrations - kids like bite sized (and less crumbs the better amiright?) This little guy loves all things SUPER Hero, so we delivered with some minis in his fav designs...BAM!

Sugar Cookie Show-and-Tell: Trim the Tree and Dress the Snowman!
We kept it simple with the Christmas cookie offerings this year, colorful lit trees and happy snowmen. The DecoBake kitchen is still going through a massive overhaul, so we didn't churn out our normal platters and favors and paint-your-owns and craziness, which felt right this year. We said goodbye our sweet Dozer pup this Christmas, so Less was More. More time with the family, more time to trim the real tree and dress the real snowman. More time to spend with the ones we Love. Merry Christmas!

Sugar Cookie Show-and-Tell: TROLLS take-over!
I may have mentioned here before that Character cookies aren't the easiest to do - simply because kids are incredibly observant when it comes to their beloved friends...if Elmos face is wonky, or Cinderellas dress is the wrong color, they will LET YOU KNOW (in only the way kids know how - by shouting it at you)
So I'm usually hesitant to take on popular characters. But when lovely J so sweetly asked if I could do Trolls for her 7th birthday, I couldn't say no (Im still pushing to welcome her into the family one day as a daughter-in-law). I also had just seen the movie with my kids and LOVED it, the colors, the characters, the music...so I was already sort of sketching designs in my head that would work. Since the movie was so new, I didn't have any sample cookies to look to, which meant completely fresh ideas which is nerve-wracking and so fun all at the same time. I love the way they turned out...but most importantly - J said they were "perfect", (wonky faces and all ;)

Sugar Cookie Show-and-Tell: The littlest pumpkin
A fall birthday celebration for a 1 year old sweetie was just screaming for pumpkins. I adore minis, they are bite sized little bursts of deliciousness - and they make such cute favors when packaged in a neat row. Ive been itching to use my little cake stand mini - and it didn't disappoint!
